About Me:
I grew up in Austin Texas and moved to Olympia in 1997 to attend The Evergreen State College and later received my undergraduate degree in 1999. I worked as a social worker for 10 years in Olympia, Seattle, and Austin. I decided to return to Evergreen in 2010 then received my Master in Teaching June of 2012.
I absolutely love life, with a particular fondness for animals and children! When I am not teaching, planning, and/or collaborating with other educators; I am running, practicing yoga, biking, reading, listening to music, and hanging out with family and friends. I have a passion for anything related to health and fitness so I spend a lot of my time focused on wellness. I am deeply moved by music and art. My goal is to study the fine arts and teach art later in my career. I love to surf and travel and have been to Mexico, Hawaii, and Costa Rica. I have always been fascinated with Balinese culture and plan on traveling to Bali next summer to surf!
I am delighted and grateful to be an educator. I value the relationships I build with my students and find that learning is a collaborative process, thus I learn as much from my students as they do from me. My highest aspiration is to make learning engaging and fun. I am also very committed to facilitating both academic as well as social/emotional growth in all of my students.
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."
William Butler Yeats
